As you know, the sale and consumption of alcohol is prohibited in Iran, but there are carbonated malt drinks without alcohol, similar to beer, with lemon, strawberry, pineapple, tropical flavor and etc. There are also classic soft drinks with cola, orange, lemon flavor, usually from Pepsi or ZamZam (the local brand). Coca-Cola has also colonized the country and you can find its products anywhere.

Chai or tea is an inseparable part of Iranian culture. Persian people drink tea in the morning when they get up, after every meal, in the afternoon and before they go to sleep. When you walk into an Iranian house, you are welcomed by a hot cup of tea. Chai is almost everywhere, houses, shops, offices, restaurants, squares, public places and anywhere you can imagine.

Another Popular drink in Iran is Doogh, a cold savory yogurt-based beverage mixed with salt and mint and other scented vegetables.

Sekanjebin is a mixture of natural honey, white vinegar, and mint extract. The drink is usually served with chopped cucumber and mint and it is one of the most popular choices of Iranian people in a hot summer day.

Khakshir is another popular drink in Iran. It is a mixture of Flixweed seeds, cold water, sour lemon juice, dried plums and rose water. Apart from its wonderful taste Khakshir has many medical properties including helping for curing measles; it lowers the body temperature and cures fever, keeps the skin young, removes hives and helps with kidney stone.

Saffron Syrup is a ceremonial cold drink.
